... AND HOW WE DO IT AT BELIGHTFUL DESIGN?

In today’s society, companies are often seen as economic actors, whose only responsibility is to make a profit for their stockholders. It is, of course, necessary that companies are able to produce profit, but it is also important that companies pay attention to those forms of benefits that are not financial. Instead, companies should strive to create as much social well-being as possible.

Acknowledging social and environmental issues should not only be seen as a voluntary way of practicing charity but as a way for a company to build a positive reputation. Good reputation strengthens the company’s ties to its customers and financiers, and the companies that integrate responsibility into their everyday practices are more profitable.

Responsible companies, for example,

attract skilled employees,
save more raw materials and
have better funding premises.

Regardless of the size of a company, it is farsighted for the companies to pay attention to these factors.

We at Belightful Design are continually seeking ways to direct our practices to become as sustainable as possible. Since we are still in the start-up phase, we are lucky that we can construct our ways of doing business without having to modify the existing structures. We have paid close attention to the environmental issues, and for example, selected our raw materials based on sustainable criteria.

We have also striven to acknowledge social responsibility in our production methods; for example, we chose a company called Kolmituote to take care of the packing of our nectars. Kolmituote is a non-profit company that provides employment and rehabilitation services for employees who are only partly capable of working. We are trying to do our bit so that no one is left behind.
